Family: Fagaceae

Provenance: Volunteer seedling from Arnold Arboretum on the side of Beech Path.

Date Acquired: 11/3/2016

Approx. Age at Acquisition: 3-5 years old.


-11/3/2016, Tree ~3ft tall with nice structure and many small leaves. Tree transplanted, roots cleaned and potted into 50/50 soil mix with some inoculant from exiting soil. Trunk approx .5-.75″ thick. Will be left to grow in spring.

-12/5/16, tree brought inside for winter storage.

-12/15/16, tree composted to make room for new acquisitions

To do: Tree must be brought inside for winter storage once leaves have senesced. Trunk must be left to thicken next season by fertilizing liberally and allowing free growth.
